The locally owned Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market has been operating for over 12 months and has expanded to include the new venue of Caloundra Indoor Stadium in 2012. Our launch market at the second venue will have over 100 stalls selling pre loved, new and beautiful handmade baby & kid’s items. An exciting addition to the market at Caloundra will be the inclusion of lots of childrens activities, many being free. In January we will have a free concert by Let the Children, free kiddie Kicks soccer, free craft classes, free face painting and balloon art, free story telling, jumping castle and heaps more. We will also have lots of everyday essentials including Chemist Warehouse stall, Deanies kids cuts and a professional car seat fitter. There will be plenty of food to keep the shoppers happy as well as a rest area for parents.
Over the past 12 months the market has continued to grow and now attracts in excess of 600 people. It has become the smarter way to shop for the under 5’s. The Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market has confirmed six dates for 2012 in Caloundra as well as six in Nambour. The next market is on Sunday January 15th from 8am-2pm. Entry is $2, kids are free.
Owners Julia Meaker and Dani Anspach started the market because with five children under three years old between them they understand how hard it can be to make the dollar stretch further. “We could not find anywhere that you could buy quality pre loved items as well as giving work at home mums and opportunity to sell their handmade items” Julia Meaker said. Several factors including the increasing costs of everyday bills has put the squeeze on household budgets. Families are now forced to shop smarter. The current economic situation has required stay at home parents to come up with creative ways to make ends meet. There has been a phenomenal increase in the number of work from home parents, using their talents to create amazing handmade items.
The Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market aims to fill this gap in the market by showcasing products from talented local parents and also providing affordable pre loved items. The benefits of this concept is twofold, families can make some extra cash by selling unwanted baby goods and shoppers benefit by getting items such as clothes, bedding, cots, toys etc. at a fraction of retail cost. The Sunny Coast Baby and Kids Market also gives work at home parents the chance to sell their handmade items without many of the prohibitive costs of setting up a business.
