Tegan Lather and her family are at it again! Last year, 12 year old Tegan raised over $18,500 for the Australia Zoo Wildlife 
Hospital and this year she wants to raise more! Tegan, with the help of family and friends are putting on a great event – A “Family Fun Day Car Rally!”
The Family Fun Day will have participants enjoy great challenges (a bit like the Amazing Race!) in between solving puzzles to navigate their family car around the Sunshine Coast.
The event will be held Sunday 27 May 2012 starting at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, next door to Australia Zoo, Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah.
Many wonderful operators from local tourist attractions are helping us out, with some great challenges at Australia Zoo, Big Kart Track, Maleny Dairies, Sunshine Castle and Aussie World! We can’t name them all – that would give away the surprises on the day!
Tegan says it will be a fantastic day for a family at only $125 per car (up to 5 people).
All profits will be donated to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Tegan hopes to raise over ten thousand dollars with this fundraiser.
When asked why they work so hard fundraising for Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, Tegan explained that it was their family’s love of animals that made them aware of the plight of the injured, ill and orphaned wildlife being treated at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital treated over 8000 sick and injured Australian native wildlife in 2011 alone. This is at no cost to the public and they do not receive any government funding, despite being Australia’s busiest wildlife hospital.
Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors also supports practical wildlife conservation work such as saving Tasmanian Devils here in Australia, Cheetahs in Africa, Tigers and Elephants and Orang-utans in Asia.
Tegan says, “Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors do such an amazing job and we just wanted to try to help out by raising money for them so they can continue do their excellent work”.
Tegan has gathered a range of amazing challenges and prizes from Sunshine Coast local businesses to make a fun and entertaining day.
- 1st Prize: SeaView Resort at Mooloolaba has donated a 5 night stay in a 2 bedroom apartment valued at over $1100.00
- 2nd Prize: $650 Voucher for Zoo Studios 1 photo session in Brisbane studio and 12 in x 12 in Canvas Photo to take home!
- 3rd Prize: at Wamuran has donated a 2 night stay for 2 people Uluramaya Retreat Cabins!
There will also be lots of other prizes for novelty entries on the day!
